This is Dudley Observatory’s Skywatch Line for Wednesday and Thursday,
September 27 and 28, written by Alan French.
The Sun rises at 6:48 A.M. on Wednesday and sets at 6:44 P.M. On
Thursday it rises at 6:49 and sets at 6:42. This Thursday has just over
20 minutes less daylight than last Thursday.
The Moon is now approaching full, which it will reach Friday morning, so
the waxing gibbous Moon will appear close to full over the next two
nights. On Monday the Moon rises at 6:12 P.M. just south of due east. By
9:00 it will 26 degrees above the southeastern horizon and 97% full.
Thursday it rises at 6:36 P.M. and is 99.7% full and 24 degrees above
the horizon at 9:00. The Moon reaches full at 5:59 A.M. Friday morning,
when just under 9 degrees above the western horizon. It will set at 6:54
A.M.
